Mother Seton Award

The Home and School Association is very pleased to announce Mike Fulmer as the 2007-2008 Mother Seton Honoree.

Mike gives untiring effort to the mission and prosperity of St. Joseph School and to the community at large.

He and his wife Sandra are the parents of three girls: Caitlin, an SJS alum and SLU student; Callie, sixth grade; and Cassidy, a fourth grader.

From the Principal

This is one last reminder that the Open House for Prospective Parents is this coming Monday. I visited local area preschools with announcements of our Open House and I was warmly welcomed. It is our intention to give parents a good introduction to the school including faculty, facilities, and program.

Once more, the school is dependent on parents of preschoolers and kindergarten to recruit for the school. Next year the school can accommodate a greater number of first and second graders as we have two second grade homerooms. The school will have also limited openings in grades three through eight.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and enthusiastic support of the school. Once again, Open House for new parents will be February 18th which is President’s Day. Hours for visitation for new parents will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuition, fees, and procedures for registration for the coming school year will be made available at Open House. Registration for new parents is February 25th.

Finally, please complete your child’s registration for next school year this week. We need to know the openings we will have for the next school year.

25 Year Honoree

She has three children, Erica, Greg, and Angela. She teaches physical education to grades 1-8.

Both teachers have been employed at St. Joseph for the past 25 years and through their example and daily interaction with students and colleagues show what it means to be true Christians. St. Joseph is proud to have such highly qualified and dedicated faculty members on staff.

Spring Fair News

The Spring Fair is scheduled for March 28, 29, and 30. This is an addition to the calendar, so please be sure to mark down these important dates.

The next Spring Fair meeting will be held Wednesday, February 13, at 7:00 P.M. in the school library. Room mothers are asked to attend to help with the organization of the classes.

Human Sexuality

The Diocese of Baton Rouge mandates that Human Sexuality be taught in grades 4-8. These classes will be taught in the next few weeks. Students will be bringing home materials used in class. Please make this a family time to discuss this most important issue.

SJS Re-Registration

A re-registration form for students currently enrolled at St. Joseph was sent home in last week’s packet.

Please remember that the registration fee must accompany the form in order for your child to be considered registered.

We have several people with returned forms, but no fee. Applications will not be processed without the fee. Please send the fees in order to assure your child a place on the rolls.
If you are registering an additional sibling for next year, please add them to this form and include his/her registration fee.

The form is due in the office on or before Friday, February 15. Students registered after this date will be charged an additional $100 late registration fee.

Altar Server Workshop

There will be an Altar Server Workshop on Sunday, February 17, at 1:30 in the church.
This workshop is for all altar servers, “veterans” as well as those currently in training. Your attendance is extremely important.

Changes in duties before, during, and after Mass will be discussed. Father John will be there to go over the changes and hold a “demonstration Mass” with the changes.
The changes will be implemented after the workshop, so please make every effort to attend.
