From the Principal

Parents,

Welcome to the new school year. We are off to an excellent start.

The first thing you should know is that Fr. Kauchak, our beloved Pastor, has retired. We will offer our thanks to him for his service in the near future.

We wish to weldom Fr. John to the parish as pastor and offer our gratitude to him for his service to the parish and the school. We also will shortly welcome Fr. Ramon, now Br. Ramon, as the new assistant in the parish. Br. Ramon will be ordained on August 29, and St. Joseph will be his first assignment as an ordained priest.

Next, you should know that communication from the school to you as parents has entered into the 21st Century. You will in the future be receiving all communication from the school over the Internet. The website is being constantly updated, and Mrs. Little does an excellent job of keeping the information on the site current.

Weekly updates will be published on Wednesday, and parents will be held responsible for information that is published on the school website.

We have subscribed to EDLINE this school year. An explanation of that service is coming home with your child today (8/19/09). Please read the material carefully and follow instructions. Teachers will no longer use Schoolnotes.com as in the past, but classroom information, test dates, and other assignments will be posted on EDLINE. Techer email addresses are on the school website.

It would be a wonderful way to start the new year if we had a huge crowd at the first Home and School Association meeting tomorrow night (8/20/09). I will give a presentation on the state of the school and the progress and plans for this year and years to come. We will introduce teachers and also give a report of the Home and School and their plans for the school year. The meeting will start promptly at 6:30, and plans are to be to the point.

I encourage all parents to attend.

Thank youj for your cooperation. This is all done in an effort to better serve your children.\

Gerard Toups, Ph.D.
Principal

New Faculty

New faculty members have been welcomed to St. Joseph this year.

From left are Mrs. Melissa Thomas, Ms. Robin Scruggs, Mrs. Ashley Schenck, and Mrs. Amy Strohmer-Wood.

Mrs. Thomas is our Fourth Grade teacher (4B) as well as the Athletic Director.

Ms. Scruggs teaches Second Grade (2B).

Mrs. Schenck is our Third Grade teacher (3A).

Mrs. Strohmer-Wood is the Sixth Grade homeroom teacher. She teaches social studies to students in Grades 5-8 as well as English to the Sixth Grade students.

New Cafeteria Tables

Fifth Grade students, along with all other students in the school, are very impressed with their new cafeteria tables. The foldable tables with attached stools arrived today, August 19, just in time to be set up as a lunch surprise for the children. All agree that they really spruce up the cafeteria.
