Thanks to everyone who worked and supported the Fair last weekend. The fair was off to a wonderful start on Friday and had a good afternoon on Saturday when the rains came. The cold on Sunday dampened the spirits a bit. We will have a complete report on the profits hen the final results are calculated.
Each year the seventh graders who qualify take the ACT with the juniors and seniors in high school who are preparing for college as part of the Duke University Talent Identification Program. In order to qualify to take the test, students must score a 95 percentile or better in reading English or math on the sixth grade Terra Nova. The following students qualified to take the test: Shelby Bagby, Leah Dahmer, Alexandra D’Amico, Bethany Herrick, Danita Majeau, Sarah Ryals, Krystal Waddell, and Abigail vonAlmen.
Duke recognizes the seventh grade students across the state that score higher than 50% of the high school juniors and seniors in one are more subject at a ceremony at Northwestern University in Natchitoches.
The following students will be recognized for their placement in English: Shelby Bagby, Leah Dahmer, Alexandra D’Amico, Bethany Herrick, Danita Majeau, Krystal Waddell, and Abigail vonAlmen.
The following students will be recognized for their placement in reading: Leah Dahmer, Alexandra D’Amico, Bethany Herrick, and Abigail vonAlmen.

Duke recognizes students who score higher than 90% of the juniors and seniors taking the ACT at a special ceremony held at Duke in Durham North Carolina. Alexandra D’Amico will be invited to that ceremony because of her score in English.
We are most proud of the accomplishment of all these students.
Also, students from the Algebra I and English I classes represented St. Joseph School at the district literary rally held Saturday, March 20, at Southeastern State University. Scores on the content tests were outstanding.
Zac Barrient took first place in Algebra I. He qualified to take the state test later in the year.
Eric Alphonso brought home a fifth place in Algebra I.
Emily Buddy and Luke Bleakley were fractions of a point apart and come in at fifth and sixth places respectively.

Prayer for Priests
The Year for Priests 2009-2010Dear Lord,
We pray that the Blessed Mother wrap her mantle around Your priests and through her intercession strengthen them for their ministry.
We pray that Mary will guide Your priests to follow her own words,
"Do whatever He tells you." (Jn 2:5)
May Your priests have the heart of St. Joseph, Mary's most chaste spouse.
May the Blessed Mother's own pierced heart inspire them to embrace all who suffer at the foot of the cross.
May Your priests be holy, filled with the fire of Your love, seeking nothing but Your greater glory and the salvation of souls.
Amen
St. John Vianney, pray for us
