Psalm 146

R. Praise the Lord, my soul!

Blessed he who keeps faith forever,
secures justice for the oppressed,
gives food to the hungry.
The LORD sets captives free.

R. Praise the Lord, my soul!

The LORD gives sight to the blind.
The LORD raises up those who were bowed down;
the LORD loves the just.
The LORD protects strangers.

R. Praise the Lord, my soul!

The fatherless and the widow he sustains,
but the way of the wicked he thwarts.
The LORD shall reign forever;
your God, O Zion, through all generations. Alleluia.

R. Praise the Lord, my soul!

School on Friday, October 1

Although Tangipahoa Parish School System has a fair holiday on Friday, October 1, St. Joseph DOES have school that day. It is a regular school day.

Because public schools are not in session, no buses will run either morning or afternon. The entire student body at St. Joseph School will be carpool that day.

We will run carpool dropoff and pickup on both sides of the building. In the afternoon, names will be called into the gym from both sides. Please follow the directions of the duty teachers in order that everyone may be quickly and SAFELY dismissed.

Please remember all carpool rules: go to the end of the line - no cutting the carpool line - follow the directions of the duty teachers - treat others as you would like to be treated. Please share this information with grandparents and other caregivers who are dropping off and picking up students as they might not have read this information.

Thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation.

Fall Fest T-Shirts

Fall Fest t-shirts are being sent home with the students today. All Fall Fest t-shirts were pre-ordered. No more are currently available. No more will be ordered.

Students may wear their Fall Fest shirts with their spirit dress instead of the Crusader shirt on all the Fridays in October - October 1, 8, 15, 22, 29.

We eagerly look forward to the Fall Fest on October 22.

SJS Fall Fest

St. Joseph School will hold the annual Fall Fest on Friday, October 22.

Everyone is asked to help make this event a success. All students are asked to bring in one of the following during the week of October 18-22:
bottled waters
juice packs
home-made treats (brownies, cookies, cupcakes, rice crispy treats, muffins, etc. - treats need to be covered or in Ziplocks).

Students in Grades PreK-Fourth will attend the Fall Fest. Games, face painting, several inflatables, and refreshments will be available to enhance the fun. The school is selling armbands for St. Joseph School students in Grades preK-fourth which will include unlimited game play and four tickets for refreshments.

The armbands will be presold for $10 each through Friday, October 15. An order form was sent home today. It is easier for everyone if the students can get their armbands in the classroom prior to the festival. Presold armbands also allow more play time for the students.

Armbands will be available the day of the festival for $12. Tickets for additional refreshments (@ $.25) will also be available on that day.

Eighth Grade Students will be hosting the festival, working games, and helping with the inflatables.

Students in Grades Fifth through Seventh will have special activities off campus (field trip). More details about this will be available later.

Parents are welcome at the festival. We can always use any extra volunteers. Please contact Toni Waddell at 985-386-6421 if you'd like to volunteer or have questions.

Living Rosary

On Thursday, October 7, at 8:30 a.m., students of St. Joseph School will participate in the Living Rosary in the church.

Parents are invited to join the student body as they honor Our Lady with this special prayer.
