Psalm 145

R. I will praise your name for ever, my king and my God.

I will extol you, O my God and King,
and I will bless your name forever and ever.
Every day will I bless you,
and I will praise your name forever and ever.

R. I will praise your name for ever, my king and my God.

The LORD is gracious and merciful,
slow to anger and of great kindness.
The LORD is good to all
and compassionate toward all his works.

R. I will praise your name for ever, my king and my God.

Let all your works give you thanks, O LORD,
and let your faithful ones bless you.
Let them discourse of the glory of your kingdom
and speak of your might.

R. I will praise your name for ever, my king and my God.

The LORD is faithful in all his words
and holy in all his works.
The LORD lifts up all who are falling
and raises up all who are bowed down.

R. I will praise your name for ever, my king and my God.

From the Principal

Congratulations to Joey Gaines (6th Grade) and Eva Delatte (1st Grade) for being named October Crusader and Mini Crusader of the Month.

Dear Parents:

The next four suggestions from the Oprah article are most appropriate. Children of elementary age need supervision in their school work. It does not end in third grade. I remember helping one of my children with geometry in high school. Make time for them. Form good habits early. When the tragedy at Vanderbilt High School in Houma occurred a couple of weeks ago, there was an excellent letter published in the Times Picayune from the Vanderbilt football coach. He indicated that at Vanderbilt, the Athletic Department stressed God, family, academics, and athletics in that order. In my view the last value might not be athletics for all students. The last one might be music, art, dance, scouting, fishing, or some other activity the child enjoys. The other three are in proper order and should always take priority. We must prioritize for correctly for our children. Then they will have the proper values to carry them through life.

Be Involved.

5. Check children's agendas and take-home folders every night. According to the National PTA, talking with your children is one of the most critical steps of healthy parenting. "Communication is key," Not only does this help you stay on top of updates and what's going on in the classroom, but it also shows your child that you are checking in.

6. Check on homework regularly—but don't do it for the child! It's important to review your child's homework, but if she gets an answer wrong, take the time to help her understand why. "Please don't just tell her the right answer, that defeats the purpose of homework!"

7. Address behavior issues at home. "Children don't enjoy getting in trouble, so when they come home and tell you about how mean the teacher is, keep in mind they may be telling the story in a way that they won't get punished." If this happens, try to get to the heart of the issue and uncover the facts so you can address it.

8. Go to Open House Night. A good parent-teacher relationship leads to a good student-teacher relationship, so don't skip the open house! Use the open house as a time to get to know the teacher, ask questions, uncover expectations, address problems and find out what's going on in the classroom.

It’s hard to assure that each child has your attention, especially if there are several children in the household. Each must have their time and that time is vitally important for their success.

All Saints Day

Sixth grade students portayed their favorite saints at Mass on Monday, November 1, in honor of all Saints Day.

The students researched and wrote about their saints prior to the feast day. They participated in the Mass dressed as their chosen saint. Following Mass, the students visited the classrooms to tell the other students what they found fascinating about their particular saint.

Pictures of all the "saints" can be found in Photo Albums on the website.
