Psalm 122

R. Let us go rejoicing to the house of the Lord.

I rejoiced because they said to me,
“We will go up to the house of the LORD.”
And now we have set foot
within your gates, O Jerusalem.

R. Let us go rejoicing to the house of the Lord.

Jerusalem, built as a city
with compact unity.
To it the tribes go up,
the tribes of the LORD.

R. Let us go rejoicing to the house of the Lord.

According to the decree for Israel,
to give thanks to the name of the LORD.
In it are set up judgment seats,
seats for the house of David.

R. Let us go rejoicing to the house of the Lord.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem!
May those who love you prosper!
May peace be within your walls,
prosperity in your buildings.

R. Let us go rejoicing to the house of the Lord.

Because of my brothers and friends
I will say, “Peace be within you!”
Because of the house of the LORD, our God,
I will pray for your good.

R. Let us go rejoicing to the house of the Lord.

From the Principal

Dear Parents:

I hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving. The students returned to a BMX bicycle show and they seemed to very much enjoy the program. The magazine sale was very successful and the show was a reward for the effort made during the sale. Pictures are on the web

We also thank you all and your parents for making our book fair a huge success. The funds raised at the Book Fair help us to replenish our library, pay for the prizes for Accelerated Reader, and keep our software updated.

Again, every week the web is updated with information and pictures. Please take a minute to go to the site www.sjscrusaders.org regularly for school information. Mrs. Little works hard to keep the site updated.

This is the time of year that we recognize those who serve us and we are asking each child for a donation for a gift for Father John. Father has had difficult time with his operation. He has returned to us and worked hard for the children. He says Mass for them and they always enjoy his messages. He arranges for reconciliation for the children on a regular basis. He oversees the school and supports our efforts to provide a faith filled experience for the children. We will be collecting for a gift over the next couple of weeks. Thank you for your generosity.

This is also the time of year that we ask parents to begin to recruit students for the school for next school year. Open House this year is scheduled for February 21st which is President’s Day. As parents you come into contact with other parents of children who have school age children as yourself. This often happens at Christmas time. You are our best recruiters. You have family, friends, and co-workers who have children starting school, who are moving into the area, or who are not happy with the education their children are receiving. Let them know about St. Joseph. Let us know about them.

Please send the names and addresses of parents who you think might be interested in sending their children to St. Joseph. We will simply invite them to the Open house. The prospective parents need not know how we received their names. Increasing school enrollment will allow us to provide a better education for all the students. Please use the attached form for that purpose.

Cold Weather Clothing

Now that colder weather is upon us, we need to remind everyone what is acceptable uniform wear for St. Joseph students:

Girls may wear navy leggings with white socks or white or navy tights with their regular uniforms.

Both boys and girls may wear a white long or short sleeved shirt with no writing under their regular uniform shirts.

All students may wear the SJS sweatshirt with or without the hood or the SJS heavier jacket or a solid white or navy blue cardigan sweater (no zippers). The sweatshirts and jackets are available at The Old School on Church Street in Hammond.

NO OTHER OUTERWEAR WILL BE ALLOWED TO BE WORN IN THE CLASSROOMS.

Santa Bear

Again this year we will be combining efforts with St. Joseph Parish, the Daily Star, and Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Department to provide Christmas toys for children in need.

By combining our efforts, the Sheriff's Department can better check families and make sure that they are legitimate. Also, the Sheriff's Department will take care of deliveries.

Please bring toys UNWRAPPED to the school library by December 10. Toys that indicate violence will not be accepted. Please NO BUNS, BOW & ARROWS, ETC.

Make can Advent sacrifice by doing this for a child that is less fortunate.

Important Reminder

Don't forget the St. Joseph Home and School Association Meeting on Thursday, December 2, at 6:30 p.m. in the gym.

Candy Grams

This Christmas season, SJS Student Council is spreading holiday cheer to students and teachers by selling Candy Grams!

Candy Grams are 25 cents each and will be on sale starting December 2 through December 7.

Candy Gram cards have been sent home. All sales need to be sent back with your card list, payment (cash or check made payable to St. Joseph School). These may be given to the homeroom teacher or sent to the office.

All proceeds will go toward a charitable holiday need in our community.

Thank you, and may you have a Blessed Holiday Season!

BMX Bike Show

Students at St. Joseph returned from the Thanksgiving holidays to a BMX bike show! They seemed to very much enjoy the program. The magazine sale was very successful, and the show was a reward for the effort made during the sale. Pictures are in Photo Albums.

Book Fair Update

Luc Campbell, left, and Hayden Broussard, both second grade students. check out selections at the book fair.

We thank all who helped and supported the book fair the week prior to Thanksgiving break. The fair was a huge success. The funds raised at the book fair help us to replenish our library, pay for the prizes for Accelerated Reader, and keep our software updated.

This year's fair netted $10, 747.24 in net sales, our biggest and best ever! Numbers are being crunched now to figure the library's share of the sales.
