Psalm 23: 1-3a, 3b-4, 5-6

R. The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
In verdant pastures he gives me repose;
beside restful waters he leads me;
he refreshes my soul.

R. The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.

He guides me in right paths
for his name's sake.
Even though I walk in the dark valley
I fear no evil; for you are at my side
with your rod and your staff
that give me courage.

R. The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.

You spread the table before me
in the sight of my foes;
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.

R. The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.

Only goodness and kindness follow me
all the days of my life;
and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD
for years to come.

R. The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.

From the Principal

Dear Parents:

Tomorrow, Thursday is the regular meeting of the Home and School. Please make every effort to attend.

The Mass for All Saints Day was very well attended by parents and grandparents. The church was full. Having all the Saints present was a special treat and we thank Mrs. Dyer, the sixth graders, and their parents for the outstanding work they did to make the celebration so special. Welcome to the preschoolers for their first Mass of the school year. Remember we have Mass every Friday at 8:30 for the student body. Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and any one else are invited to attend.

Please be attentive to the materials mailed to you last week. Most Catholic schools have these drives with parents, grandparents and alumni every year. This is an attempt to keep tuition at a minimum. Funds donated to the school are tax deductible on the federal and state income tax. For the first time tuition is deductible on the state income tax. Again, parents who pay state taxes will receive twice the tax deduction for the 2011 school year as they received for 2010. We are asking that a donation of that amount donated to the school in lieu of a tuition increase. A careful reading of the material will fully explain our effort.

Thanks to those who have forwarded the books to us for the school in Baton Rouge. I will bring them to our next principal’s meeting, and I know Sister will appreciate the effort.

-- Dr. Gerard Toups
    Principal

Love Those Saints!

We at St. Joseph have been given an exciting opportunity to raffle off two Saints - Club Level - Monday Night Football tickets!

We are asking that our student body get involved by selling ten raffle tickets at $5 each. Of course there will be exciting prizes for the top individual sellers and the classes that sell the most.

The raffle tickets were sent home October 5.

The turn-in date for tickets and all money is November 10.

The prizes for the top three sellers are:

1st place - 8x10 autographed picture of Drew Brees
2nd place - Lance Moore autographed Saints jersey
3rd prize - Jon Vilma autographed mini helmet.

In addition to these individual prizes, we will be awarding a pizza party to the classes that sell the most tickets.

If you'd like to sell more tickets than what is sent home, please contact the school office.

If you can't sell your tickets, please turn them into the office as soon as you can so that others may sell them for you.

SJS/Papa John's Pizza Night

It's time for SJS/Papa John's Pizza Night again!

Mark you calendars for Tuesday, November 8. If you order from Papa John's Pizza that evening and mention the school's name, the school receives a percentage of the proceeds that night.

We've had wonderful response so far, and the school has received a check from Papa John's each time.

Don't forget that the class with the most orders will win a pizza party, so also leave a teacher's name when ordering. Mrs. Dufreche and Mrs. Curtis's classes have already been rewarded with their parties!

The Book Fair Is Near!

The countdown has begun, and we need volunteers to help launch our most successful Book Fair ever! Our school is conducting an out-of-this-world Fair to encourage reading and raise funds to purchase new books for our library.

A schedule of class attendance at the book fair was sent home again today.

This year we have a new and easy way to volunteer!

Find the time you would like to help using the schedule previously sent home..
