Psalm 17: 8. 9. 10. 11

R. The judgments of the Lord are true, and all of them are just.

The law of the LORD is perfect,
refreshing the soul;
The decree of the LORD is trustworthy,
giving wisdom to the simple.

R. The judgments of the Lord are true, and all of them are just.

The precepts of the LORD are right,
rejoicing the heart;
The command of the LORD is clear,
enlightening the eye.

R. The judgments of the Lord are true, and all of them are just.

The fear of the LORD is pure,
enduring forever;
The ordinances of the LORD are true,
all of them just.

R. The judgments of the Lord are true, and all of them are just.

They are more precious than gold,
than a heap of purest gold;
Sweeter also than syrup
or honey from the comb.

R. The judgments of the Lord are true, and all of them are just.

From the Principal

Dear Parents,

Please pay careful attention to the letter that will come through the mail next week. It will update you on many of the efforts that are being made to make St. Joseph a better place for you children to work and play. It will also have information to keep the cost of tuition to a minimum.

Last Sunday was the first Sunday of Advent. Advent is a time of preparation for the birth of Christ. The Church sees this time of preparation as a more solemn time similar in some ways to Lent. The school has special prayers for Advent and each class has an Advent Wreath in their classroom. The school will also participate in the Santa Bear Program for Christmas as part of the St. Joseph Parish community. The school newsletter has more information.

This is the time of year that we recognize those who serve us and we are asking each child for a donation for a gift for Father John and Father Cayet. They say Mass for the children who always enjoy their messages. They arrange for reconciliation for the children on a regular basis. They oversee the school and support our efforts to provide a faith filled experience for the children. We will be collecting for a gift over the next couple of weeks. Thank you for your generosity.

Papa John’s night is this coming Tuesday, so stay out of the kitchen, support the school, and order pizza for the evening.

Just a reminder the Home and School meets tomorrow evening at 6:30.

Santa Bear

St. Joseph School will again this year participate in the Santa Bear Project to help provide Christmas toys for needy children.

Please bring unwrapped toys to the school library between now and Friday, December 9. Toys should not be of a violent nature (no guns, bows and arrows, etc.).

Your Advent Act of Kindness can make a huge difference for a child in need. Thank you in advance for your generosity for those less fortunate than ourselves.

SJS sends out a big Crusader salute to Billy Balew, the winner of the Saints/Giants tickets raffled off today. The winning ticket was sold by Krislyn Dapprich. Many, many thanks to our raffle committee, all those who sold or bought tickets, and to everyone who helped make this such a huge success!

The Fair Committee will begin planning meetings in the near future. Please watch the news letter and Home and School website for the first meeting date to be announced. Remember this is our largest fundraiser for the year and ask that everyone gives their time to help.The success of the fair effects our donation of funds to help the school meet the needs of our students.

Book Fair Results

We have fantastic news from the SJS bookfair. The grand total of receipts totaled $10,900, our highest total ever! Thanks to all of the many volunteers and shoppers. We couldn't have done it without you!

Mrs. Melissa Henderson's baby picture took first place in the contest. Money collected from that contest and from the dress-up day held during the book fair resulted in $318.50 (equivalent to 80 books) for St. Francis Xavier School library. This donation, along with the many generous personal gifts of books from our parents in response to an earlier appeal, will go far to help this sister Catholic school replish their library.

St. Joseph School students also will find about $750 in new books on the library shelves as a result of the book fair. Way to go, Crusaders!

SHOP OUR BOOK FAIR ONLINE FAIR NOW THROUGH DECEMBER 7
All of the selection from the book fair is still available plus tons more. Books for preschoolers all the way through adults can still be purchased! A percentage of the sales goes to the school, there is no shipping charge, and the books are delivered to the school three days after the online fair closes. So, if you missed something you wanted to buy or if you just want more to read, follow the link to the ONLINE FAIR!

The Candy Grams will be delivered the following week.

To order Candy Grams, please fill out and cut out cards on the flyer sent home today (or the online CANDY GRAM ORDER FORM). All sales need to be send to school with cards and payment. Please give to homeroom teachers or the office.

The last day to order is Tuesday, December 6.

All proceeds will go to a charitable holiday need in our community.

Thank you, and may you have a blessed holiday season!

Papa John's Pizza Night

Mark your calendars for Tuesday, December 6.

That's SJS/Papa John's Pizza night. If you order pizza that evening and mention St. Joseph School, the school will receive a monetary contribution back from Papa John's. If you mention your child's teacher's name, that class might win a pizza party.

During this busy season, it might be nice to relax and let Papa John's do the cooking. The school benefits from your order. It's a win-win proposition.

Pictures with Santa

Santa Claus will be at St. Joseph School on Friday, December 9 for pictures!

If you'd like to have your child's picture taken with Sants, please fill out the form sent home today (or click on SANTA PICTURES) along with the amount due by Wednesday, December 7.

Please make checks payable to Kim LaMarca.

Science Lab Pictures

Eagerly collecting scientific data are, from left to right, Ian Waller, Dawson Pinion, Adam Coffey, and Haleigh Habisreitinger.

Seventh grade students have been studying the movement of substances through cell membranes.

The class performed an experiment using this lesson. Two different sized eggs were placed in a Ziploc bag of colored water and left overnight. The following day, the students cut the egg in half to observe which piece of egg had the most dye movement through it.

Pictures of this experiment can be seen by visiting the Photo Albums section of this website or by clicking on SCIENCE EXPERIMENT PICTURES.

Thanksgiving Pictures

Kindergarten student Sarah Gomez and her Eighth Grade buddy Emily Waddell are all ready for Thanksgiving!

Pictures of the Thanksgiving Program performed by PreK and First Grade students can be found in the Photo Albums section of this website or by clicking on THANKSGIVING PROGRAM PICTURES.

Pictures of the Kindergarten and Eighth Grade buddies dressed for Mass as Pilgrims and Indians can also be found in the Photo Albums section of this website or by clicking on THANKSGIVING PILGRIMS and INDIANS.
