Psalm 51

R. Be merciful, O Lord, for we have sinned.

Have mercy on me, O God, in your goodness;
in the greatness of your compassion wipe out my offense.
Thoroughly wash me from my guilt
and of my sin cleanse me.

R. Be merciful, O Lord, for we have sinned.

For I acknowledge my offense,
and my sin is before me always:
"Against you only have I sinned,
and done what is evil in your sight."

R. Be merciful, O Lord, for we have sinned.

A clean heart create for me, O God,
and a steadfast spirit renew within me.
Cast me not out from your presence,
and your Holy Spirit take not from me.

R. Be merciful, O Lord, for we have sinned.

Give me back the joy of your salvation,
and a willing spirit sustain in me.
O Lord, open my lips,
and my mouth shall proclaim your praise.

R. Be merciful, O Lord, for we have sinned.

Krewe of Crusaders Parade

The Krewe of Crusaders parade was set to roll last Friday, but had to be cancelled because we were not blessed with good parade weather. We are very sorry for the inconvenience this caused some people, but no one wanted to risk the children's heath by having them out in the cold, rainy weather.

We look forward with great anticipation to having this parade on our rain date, Friday, February 17, at 1:00 in the church parking lot.

If for any reason the parade must be cancelled again (we're praying for good weather and ask for additional help with these prayers), we will definitely contact all parents. If you don't hear from us, the parade is rolling on time.

Mardi Gras Holidays

The Mardi Gras holidays for St. Joseph School will be Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, February 20-22.

Classes will resume on Thursday, February 23.

Logan (SJS 2010) is a sophomore at Ponchatoula High School. His brother Lane is in 6th grade at St. Joseph. Veronica teaches 3rd grade at Springfield Elementary. This is her 17th year as an educator.

Veronica is a busy volunteer in her church parish, at Ponchatoula High School, and at her school of employment. Some of her activities include:

If you are fundraising and working problems on Math-a-Thon online, be sure to print your total online donations and turn them in with this form. Checks should be made out to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Through Math-a-Thon, you and your child make it possible for St. Jude to treat patients regardless of a family's ability to pay.

Stations of the Cross

Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, February 22, this year. A special Lenten devotion practiced by St. Joseph School students is the Stations of the Cross.

After Jesus died and rose from the dead, many people reflected upon His passion and death. Pilgrims began to visit Jerusalem and walk in Jesus' footsteps along the street where He walked, which is known as the Via Dolorosa, the way of pain. They stopped along the way and remember what had happened to Jesus.

As the years passed, the practice spread throughout the world. Many Catholic churches now have the Stations of the Cross along the walls of their churches. Worshippers come to church, pray and move from station to station. This is how we, as followers of Christ, remember His death and resurrection.

St. Joseph School students in grades 1-8 observe this devotion every Friday in Lent, beginning with February 24. Stations of the Cross begin at 1:45 p.m. All are invited to attend.

A video of St. Joseph students following the stations is available at STATIONS.

Dress to impress as this will be a "Red Carpet" event!
