Psalm 32
R. Happy the people the Lord has chosen as his own.Give thanks to the Lord upon the harp,
with a ten-stringed lute sing him songs.
O sing him a song that is new,
play loudly, with all your skill.
R. Happy the people the Lord has chosen as his own.
For the word of the Lord is faithful
and all his works to be trusted.
The Lord loves justice and right
and fills the earth with his love.
R. Happy the people the Lord has chosen as his own.
They are happy, whose God is the Lord,
the people he has chosen as his own.
May your love be upon us, O Lord,
as we place all our hope in you.
R. Happy the people the Lord has chosen as his own.
From the Principal
Dear Parents,Mrs. Little and I were most pleased to attend the presentation of the Legion of Valor Bronze Cross for Achievement Medal to Taylor Ransom, alumnus of St. Joseph School (2009), at Ponchatoula High School this morning. The Legion of Valor of the United States of America, Inc., sponsors this award to stimulate development of leadership, and gives the award annually for achievement of scholastic excellence in military and academic subjects. Cadet Ransom underwent a thorough and grueling competition to become one of six Marine Corps JROTC cadets nationwide to earn this distinction. Taylor is ranked first in his class of 350 at PHS; he has a 32 on the ACT. He plans to attend Tulane University this fall on a Navy Scholarship in preparation for a career as a nuclear engineer in the Navy.
It is always wonderful to see our graduates succeed and we are most proud of Taylor. More pictures of this morning's award can be see in our PHOTO ALBUMS. Television coverage (by Trey Schmaltz SJS 2002) of the event can be seen at WBRZ CHANNEL 2.
Thanks to all who contributed to the success of the Sock Hop held in the gym last Friday. I visited for a brief time and the students had a great time. A special thanks to George Waddell and John Falcon for spinning the records. Thanks to all the teachers and staff who monitored the activity. The students as well as some of the parents really entered into the spirit of the evening.
