Psalm 23
R. The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
In verdant pastures he gives me repose;
Beside restful waters he leads me;
he refreshes my soul.
R. The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.
He guides me in right paths
for his name's sake.
Even though I walk in the dark valley
I fear no evil; for you are at my side
With your rod and your staff
that give me courage.
R. The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.
You spread the table before me
in the sight of my foes;
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
R. The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.
Only goodness and kindness follow me
all the days of my life;
And I shall dwell in the house of the LORD
for years to come.
R. The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.
From the Principal
Dear Parents:There were three events this past week that are noteworthy.
Last Friday, the students had a wonderful time escorting their grandparents and, in a number of cases, their great-grandparents around the school. A large number came and enjoyed the nice weather. It is always great to see how many of the grandparents take the time to come to school to be with their grandchildren. We appreciate the interest each takes to spend the time at school with their grandchildren. We thank Ms. Cory, Mrs. Gaines, Mrs. Dyer, Mrs. Bankston, Ms. Toni, Mr. Pevey, and Mrs. Carroll for planning and working hard to make the day a huge success
Monday, the school had a very moving ceremony for Veterans Day. Students were invited to bring their relatives and friends who were veterans to school for the occasion. Students witnessed and participated in an observance that included the singing of patriotic songs, the playing of Taps, and the introduction of fathers and grandfathers who are actively serving or veterans who were present for the occasion. Alums Patrick Pereira and Taylor Ransom from the Ponchatoula High ROTC were sharply dressed in their uniforms and presented the colors. Another grad, Marc LeBlanc, from St. Thomas Aquinas High, returned to SJS to help with Taps. We thank Mrs. Gaines and Mrs. Lloyd and all who helped them to make the morning very special.
The Book Fair is going on this week. There were a number of parent volunteers who help Mrs. Carroll to make the fair a success. Parents also gave up time and assisted at Grandparents Day. We appreciate so much and owe so much to the parents who year after year offer their services to the school. Your service to the school does not go unnoticed.
For a selection of pictures for each event as well as many other events throughout the school year, take a look at the Photo Albums. You can download and print pictures from the events.
We wish all a wonderful and holy Thanksgiving. We have much to be thankful for here at St. Joseph and in the Ponchatoula community.
