Psalm 13

R. My hope, O Lord, is in your mercy.

Look, answer me, O LORD, my God!
Give light to my eyes that I may not sleep in death
lest my enemy say, “I have overcome him”;
lest my foes rejoice at my downfall.

R. My hope, O Lord, is in your mercy.

Though I trusted in your mercy,
Let my heart rejoice in your salvation;
let me sing of the LORD, “He has been good to me.”

R. My hope, O Lord, is in your mercy.

From the Principal

Dear Parents,

Congratulations to the Girl’s Varsity Volleyball team who play for the NIAL Championship this evening at 6:00.They beat the number one seed Our Lady of the Lake in straight sets yesterday.

Congratulations to alumna Colleen Atkins for being named as the Ponchatoula High School Homecoming Queen. We are proud of you.

Please note that the time is running short to sell the Dad’s Club raffle tickets for the Saints-Niners and LSU-Arkansas football games. The proceeds will go to the purchasing a new floor for the gymnasium. The Dad’s Club has taken on the renovation of the gym as a project. Funds raised by that organization will go to updating our athletic facility. Please make every effort to support this worthy cause.

Please be careful and attentive Thursday night for Halloween. Remember that Friday is All Saints Day and a Holy Day of Obligation. School Mass is at 8:30.

It's time for SJS/Papa John's Pizza Night again!

Mark you calendars for Tuesday, November 5. If you order from Papa John's Pizza that evening and mention the school's name, the school receives a percentage of the proceeds that night.

We've had wonderful response in the past, and the school has received a check from Papa John's each time.

Don't forget that the class with the most orders will win a pizza party, so also leave a teacher's name when ordering.

Hobby Day

Caden Dapprich, second grader, presents his nutcracker display to onlookers at the annual SJS Hobby Day as part of Red Ribbon Week.

Students had great fun browsing through all of the 50-60 hobbies brought to school on Hobby Day. See all of the pictures at HOBBY DAY.

Red Ribbon Pep Rally

SJS cheerleaders stunt for the student body as they lead the pep rally to end Red Ribbon week last Friday. The students also enjoyed the annual eighth grade/faculty volleyball game. All of the pictures are up on the website and can be seen at PEP RALLY.

Fire Safety In-House Field Trip

Rylan Mauterer, first grader, admires the contents of a firetruck parked outside of the Early Learning Center.

Students in grades PreK, kindergarten, and first grades enjoyed learning all about fire safety from Ponchatoula Fire Department Captain Rodney Drude and Firefighter Jeremy Peltier who brought the firetruck to St. Joseph Catholic School on Tuesday morning.

Students were shown a safety video and firefighting equipment, heard the siren and horn, and were even able to work the water hose during this in-house field trip. The firemen also left a bag of goodies for each student.

We appreciate the Ponchatoula Fire Department for all they do for our community.

More pictures of the firetruck visit can be seen at FIRE SAFETY in the photo albums section of this website.
