Psalm 69

R. Lord, in your great love, answer me.

For your sake I bear insult,
and shame covers my face.
I have become an outcast to my brothers,
a stranger to my mother’s sons,
because zeal for your house consumes me,
and the insults of those who blaspheme you fall upon me.

R. Lord, in your great love, answer me.

Insult has broken my heart, and I am weak,
I looked for sympathy, but there was none;
for consolers, not one could I find.
Rather they put gall in my food,
and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.

R. Lord, in your great love, answer me.

I will praise the name of God in song,
and I will glorify him with thanksgiving:
“See, you lowly ones, and be glad;
you who seek God, may your hearts revive!
For the LORD hears the poor,
and his own who are in bonds he spurns not.”

R. Lord, in your great love, answer me.

From the Principal

Dear Parents,

The Strawberry Fest crowds were down which led to out numbers being down only making $9,400 for the weekend. I would like to thank the following volunteers that helped make our parking a success: Melissa Maurer, David Owens, Crystal Smith, Jerod Breaux, Veronica Pierson, John Falcon, Lori Kyle, Eric Millet, Ben Perrin, Tommy Brothers, Andrea Kraft, Eric Thibodeaux, Joey Anderson, Scott Reeves, Brandon Perrin, Phil McCrory, David LaCroix, Angela Schwaibold, Glen Laraunt, Brant Alexander, Todd Acosta, and our chairman Jeff Schmitt

I am most pleased to announce that the proceeds from the fair will be in excess of $62,000.00. That breaks the record of $52,000.00 from years past. Thank each of you for supporting this wonderful event.

I hope all enjoyed the Peter Pan production as much as I did. One final thanks to Mrs. Notariano, Mrs. Curtis, the eighth graders, and all who helped for the fine performance.

The end of the school year is fast approaching. Please encourage your children to work hard these last weeks.

From the faculty and staff of St. Joseph School, have a Happy and Holy Easter. Below please find the schedule for services for Holy Week.

-- Dr. Gerard Toups
    Principal

Summer Reading Orders Due - April 17

St. Joseph School Summer Reading List for 2014 was sent home last week with students in grades Kindergarten through Fourth Grades.

Students are required to read all selections from their appropriate grade level for the 2014-2015 school year. Students will be responsible for these books through tests or projects at the beginning of the 2014 school year.

For your convenience, the library will be offering the required books for sale directly through school. The school receives a discount on these titles, and if you participate in this offer the savings get passed on to you. Most of our prices are lower than the same new paperback titles on Amazon.com.

We will try our best to distribute the books to the students before school dismisses for the summer. If we are unable to get the books to you before the end of the year, they will be available for pick up in the office, and we will notify you when they are here.

Please mark your selections on the form sent home, and return the form with a check for the total purchase payable to St. Joseph School. All pre-paid orders must be received no later than THURSDAY, APRIL 17.

Easter Holidays

St. Joseph Catholic School will be closed starting Good Friday, April 18, through the next week in order for our students and staff to celebrate Easter with their families.

School will re-open for classes on Monday, April 28.

Please be on time for school Monday, April 28. We begin our Terra Nova testing on that date.

Terra Nova Testing - April 28-May 1

Terra Nova Testing, our standardized test, will be conducted starting Monday, April 28, and continuing through the week.

Please make every effort to encourage your child to work hard during the test and do the best he or she can.

Also, make sure they are at school, well rested, and on time. Thank you for your cooperation.
