Psalm 23

R. The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
In verdant pastures he gives me repose;
Beside restful waters he leads me;
he refreshes my soul.

R. The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.

He guides me in right paths
for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk in the dark valley
I fear no evil; for you are at my side
With your rod and your staff
that give me courage.

R. The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.

You spread the table before me
in the sight of my foes;
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.

R. The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.

Only goodness and kindness will follow me
all the days of my life;
And I shall dwell in the house of the LORD
for years to come.

R. The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.

From the Principal

Dear Parents,

Thanks so much to all of our boys and girls who have made the beginning of the 2014-2015 school year a great success.

Everyone is working very hard toward their academic goals as well as demonstrating good character and being strong models of our Catholic faith.

Carpool is improving daily and we are pleased with our progress. Please continue to practice your car tag number with your children so they will recognize their number when it is called.

As we settle into our routines, it is very clear that we have a wonderful student body and staff that help to create the positive and loving climate and culture that is St. Joseph School. Please check our website and other electronic communication regularly for information and pictures of our students in their work and play.

Thank you again for sharing your children with us!

August Birthdays - August 26

All students at St. Joseph who have a birthday in August may come out of uniform on Tuesday, August 26.

This is the only day students with July birthdays may come out of uniform. There is no make-up day.

Out of uniform guidelines can be found on the WEBSITE.

Food Drive - August 27

Father has asked that as part of service to the community, students at St. Joseph School hold a weekly food drive in order to help stock the parish food pantry.

Volunteers at the food pantry share the food items with local families in need. There is currently a tremendous need to re-stock the pantry.

We ask that each student bring a canned, boxed, or bagged non-perishable food item on these days as part of this effort. Students place the donations in large wagons on their way into church for Mass.

School Pictures - August 28

On Thursday, August 28, Barberito Photographers will be at St. Joseph to take individual school pictures.

This is a pre-pay program. A brochure with package prices was sent home Wednesday, August 20.

Pictures will be taken of each child, but packages will ony be produced for children who have paid on that day.

Students are to wear their formal uniforms for these pictures.

8th/Kinder Buddies

As part of a long-standing St. Joseph Catholic School tradition, our 8th grade students met their kindergarten buddies on Tuesday.

In the picture, Dane Schmitt (center) learns about his new friends Braegan Smith (left) and Brandon Thompson (right). These buddies pair up each year for many activities during the school year and often become friends for life.

To see all of the 8th grade/kinder buddy pictures, please visit BUDDIES.

Theology of the Body - September 10

Everyone is invited to attend a six session course on St. John Paul II's Theology of the Body.

By reflecting on the Scripture, the Theology of the Ady addresses two of life's most challenging questions:
1. What does it mean to be human?
2. How do I live my life in a way that brings true happiness?

The Theology of the Body is renewing marriages, awakening vocations, healing deep personal wounds, and setting people free to live the life of greated for which they were created.

The courses will be held at St. Joseph Ministry Building on September 10, 17, 24, and October 8, 15, and 22. Times are from 6:00-7:30 each evening.

Attendance is free although a $15 donation for a workbook is suggested. The donation is not required.

Free childcare will be available.

For more information or to RSVP, please contact Rachael Perrin at 985-969-0151.
