Back to School Prayer Night
Back to School Prayer Night
We have decided to move forward with our Back to School Prayer Night. We feel it is a great opportunity for us to join together as a community united in prayer for our families who were impacted by the flooding as well as praying for a safe and successful school year. We will meet in the school gym this Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. We will pray the rosary together and have snacks and fellowship.
We are asking that families who are able to please bring a donation for our flood victims. A few suggestions are cleaning supplies, toiletries, diapers, or a gift card.
We look forward to sharing this time with our SJS families!
Reminder
Last week information was sent home to parents on the first day of school. For those in PreK and Kindergarten, the information was given to you at the Orientation. If you haven’t done so already, please be sure to read the Parent/Student handbook on the website. After you have done so, please read, sign, and return the “Family Agreement Form” by Friday, August 19th. If you need a copy of this form please click below to print.
Emergency Contact Information and Parent Alert
It is very important that you update your child’s Emergency Contact Information for this school year as well as the “Parent Alert” information. Please click on the RenWeb Update Form below for instructions.
Car Pool
Carpool Reminders:
Please remember West Beech St. and West Willow St. are not part of the carpool route in the morning or afternoon.
Both of these streets will be restricted from 7 – 9 a.m. and 2 – 4 p.m. each day and citations may be given.
Walkers must complete a form to be approved in the office. Once it is approved, a sticker will be added to the family car tag.
Please see the reminders below and a copy of the map for more information.
Bus Information
VERY IMPORTANT BUS INFORMATION!!!!
There were several changes over the summer regarding bus transportation. Bus drivers and bus routes have changed. We received confirmation last week that all drivers, numbers, and their routes have been finalized.
If you need your child to ride the bus to and/or from your home address, you have to go to the tangi schools website or click on the following link.
You will then put in your home address and on the right side of the screen you will enter 7th or 8th grade. (you have to put one of these grades because St Joseph School is not in their system and we use the same buses as the Jr. High) and press “go”
Click on Ponchatoula Jr High
It will give you the name of the bus driver, the bus number, and the driver’s phone number.
Call the bus driver to let them know your child will ride their bus
Fill out the “Parent and Student Bus Policy Acknowledgment Form” and return it to school. A copy will be made for the office and the original will be given to the bus driver.
If you need your child to be dropped off at a location other than his/her home address, click on and fill out the “Transportation Special Request Form”. This form has to be completed, sent to the school office, and school will send it to transportation for review. ***THIS FORM MUST BE REVIEWED BY Tangipahoa Parish Transportation BEFORE A CHILD CAN RIDE THE BUS. DO NOT ASSUME THAT IT IS OK FOR THE STUDENT TO GET ON THE BUS. Don’t tell your child they can ride the bus until you know the request has been approved.
BOTH OF THESE FORMS ARE ALSO UNDER RESOURCES AND THE DOWNLOAD TAB
Returning to School
We will not have bus service on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, but we will have After Care available on all days. All students who have been impacted by the flooding and are unable to get to school will be excused. If your family was impacted by the flood, please contact Mrs. Ragusa as soon as possible via email so we can begin to compile a list of our SJS families in need of resources. We hope that returning to school will provide parents with a safe environment for their children as they return to work or begin the clean-up process. As always, we are praying for all of our families and will do our best to offer support to our families in need at this time.
