Back to School Dance

The Back To School Dance will be held Friday, August 18th in the school gym for students in grades 5th - 8th grade from 7:00 - 10:00 pm. Cost is $10 a person and students are welcomed to bring a guest from other schools as long they adhere to the same rules as our St Joseph students. There will be snacks available for free and pictures available for purchase in packages of $5 and $10. Dress is casual. Remember, girls are not allowed to wear strapless or spaghetti straps and back may not be open.

Parents, please walk your child into the gym when you drop your child off and come to the gym lobby when the night is over!

Word of the Week

We will begin every school week with a virtue or character trait and a Bible verse for everyone to focus on. These words will encourage us and be helpful reminders to follow our school expectations and be Crusaders for Christ on and off campus.

Our word of the Week is Respect.

Solar Eclipse

A letter went home today explaining our plans for Monday during the window of the solar eclipse. In addition to these plans we are adding two other components.

1. All students are asked to bring a baseball cap or hat with a bill to school. This will be worn during any time students must travel such as lunch.

2. Our dismissal time falls druing the window of the solar eclipse. Out of extreme caution and to reduce our students exposure, we will delay dismissal until 3:00 p.m. We will not use the bus service. All students will be carpool on Monday and dismissed at 3:00 p.m. to report to the gym.

***** Please remember that you may choose to keep your child at home or check them out before the window of the solar eclipse begins without a penalty. We strongly recommend that you do not check your child out during the window of 11:54-2:54.

Home and School Back to School Night

Our Home & School Meeting/Back to school Night is August 22nd. See the schedule below.

5:45 p.m. - 6:20 p.m.- 1st -5th -visit classrooms

6:30 p.m. - Home and School Meeting in the Gym.

7:05 p.m. - 7:45 p.m. - 6th - 8th grade -visit classrooms.

July Birthdays

We will celebrate July birthdays on August 22nd. Students may wear free dress according to the guidelines in the handbook.

  • All clothes must be modest and reflective of the values expected at St.Joseph Catholic School. Students must be able to perform all regular school activites, including P.E. , without changing or removing any parts, shoes, or clothing.
  • Shorts ( if weather permits) must be KNEE-LENGTH
  • Blue jeans ( long, solid blue, no decorations, no holes) Tight fitting jeans(ex:jeggings,skiny jeans, etc.) regardless of the current styles are not allowed.
  • Leggings (short or long) are not allowed.
  • Dresses/skirts must be KNEE-LENGTH or longer.
  • All shirts, blouses, etc., must have sleeves.
  • Writing or symbols on shirts must be appropriate for school.
  • Shoes must have a back strap or closed heel. Crocs and high heels are not allowed.
  • Costume are not allowed.

Spirit Dress

We will have spirit dress this Friday. Please remember this is optional. The guidelines are as follows:

Students may wear spirit dress each Friday and other designated days.
Crusader Spirit shirt – purchased from school
blue jeans (long, solid blue, no decorations, no holes) Tight fitting jeans (ex: jeggings, skinny jeans, etc.) regardless of the current styles are not allowed.

Sports

All students in 5th - 8th grade who play a sport at SJS must have a physical. The physical must be on file before a season begins.

After School Care Form

Parents who will be utilizing after school care, please print and fill out the attached enrollment form for each child and return to the office.

Tithing Reminder

If the parent is a registered, financially supporting member of St. Joseph Catholic Parish, a tuition benefit is available to that parent. To qualify for tuition as a financially supporting parishioner, a family’s weekly contribution to St. Joseph Church should be a minimum of $8.00/week ($416 annually). These contributions are to be made in full by December 31, 2017. Contributions made after December 31, 2017will not count toward tithing for 2017 and tuition rates will not be adjusted for the next school year (2018-2019). Regular use of the Sunday envelope is necessary as a sign of financial support of the Church. (2017-2018 Handbook, p. 21)
