A Letter From Mrs. Cory

"How lucky I am to have something

that makes saying goodbye so hard" Winnie the Pooh

It is with a heavy heart that I write this letter to all of you. But it is with a heavier heart that I am not able to tell all of the students this in person. I will not be returning to school after the Christmas Holidays. This has probably been one of the most DIFFICULT decisions that I have ever had to make. But, after a lot of praying, contemplating the pros and cons and numerous discussions with my family, I decided it was what I needed to do at this time.

The memories that I will take with me are countless.

I was originally hired in October 2005 after Katrina as a teacher's aide in the 4th grade class. Then I was offered the secretarial position that following March. It was a job I had wanted for a long time, but after being in the classroom with the 4th grade students, I didn't want to leave them. I knew how much I would miss being with them every day. But the secretary before me told me, "look at it this way, if you take the secretarial position, you will get to see ALL of the students, not just the ones in that classroom." And I am SO GLAD I did!

I have been blessed beyond measure to get to know your children and all of those who have graduated from St Joseph in past years. I am getting to meet students that are here now whose parents were students here when I first started. Yep! I feel pretty old :)

I have also had the opportunity to meet you, their parents, as well. And I would just like to tell you all that your children are amazing and blessed to have you. . They may not realize this till later in life, but they are so fortunate to have parents who are making the sacrifice to send them to St Joseph School. I can assure you that every single person that works here at St Joseph is here for the right reason. I have truly witnessed the love and numerous hours of dedication from all of the employees here at St Joseph School. I can assure you that everyone here is here for the best interest of your child.

As I mentioned in the beginning, this is not how I was planning on saying good bye but unfortunately, this is life as we know it right now. And since I can't hug each and every one of the students, will you please give them a big hug from me and tell them how amazing they are and that I cannot tell them how much I am going to miss them and I appreciate everything they have ever done for me. For the laughs, the stories, the gifts, the cards etc...but most importantly for ALL OF THE PRAYERS they have said for my mom and my family these last few months. My mom was in the hospital for 8 weeks with Covid. It was not a very promising situation, but I truly believe it was the power of prayer, especially the power of all of our students' prayers that got her back home. And NOT only did they continue to pray for her, what would touch me more than anything was when students would see me in passing and stop and ask me, " Ms Cory, how is your mom doing?". Some of them would even stop playing while on the playground if they saw me, and run up to me and ask me. They genuinely care. I just can't explain to you how that made me feel. And by me sharing this with you, I hope that makes you feel the same. YOUR children are TRULY "Crusaders for Christ". Thank you for sharing your crusader/s with me through the years. I will miss them tremendously.

I wish all of you the BEST life has to offer. And I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and Happy HEALTHY New Year!

Love- Ms Cory
