Circle of Grace for Parents

It is required each year that the schools and churches of the Diocese offer parents information pertaining to creating safe environments for children. The Diocese provides these flyers for parents to review. The information on the flyer is set by the Office of Child and Youth Protection and changes each year.

Circle of Grace for Students

It is required by the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People that all children enrolled in Catholic Schools and Parishes receive Safe Environment Training. The Diocese of Baton Rouge provides such training called Circle of Grace. This lesson will be taught to our Pre-K – 8th grade students on September 16th and 17th, 2024, by their Religion teacher.

Parents, please take time to review your child’s lesson plan that will be taught in the classroom prior to Wednesday, September 11th, 2024. The information to do so is below.

Grandparents Day

SJS Grandparents’ Day has been scheduled for Friday, September 20th, beginning at 10:00am in the gym.

This event is open to all students in the school. If grandparents are unavailable for any reason, students are welcome to invite a special visitor (aunt, uncle, parent, godparent, special family friend, etc.) as a substitute.

It is not required that students have a grandparent/special visitor at school that day.

SCHEDULE:

9:45am: Gates closest to the church will open

10:00 – 10:30am: Gym Gathering for welcome, prayer, and entertainment

10:30 – 10:45am: Classroom Visits

10:45am – 12:30pm: Picnic lunch, pictures, and Scholastics Book Fair gift cards

VISITOR INFORMATION:

· Grandparents/Special Visitors are asked to park in the new church parking lot. They do not have to sign in at the office. The gates by the church will be open for visitors to get on campus. However, guests will not be allowed on campus until 9:45am.

Grandparents/Special Visitors meet in the gym at 10:00am.

· AFTER the welcome ceremony in the gym, Grandparents/Special Visitors go to the classroom or the designated area to pick up the student(s).

· ONE designated person (with their photo ID) is to check out the student from the homeroom teacher. They are, at that point, responsible for the student. No student will be allowed to check out to a person who has not been designated by the parent on the form. The permission slip form is on the following page.

To place your order for lunch, fill out the form sent home today and return to school along with your cash or check made payable to St. Joseph School. *If you choose the pizza option for your child, their Child Nutrition account will be charged. * You may bring your own outside lunch with you on this day instead of ordering. *

There will be multiple picture stations around campus for students to take a complimentary picture with their grandparents.

A table will be set up to purchase gift certificates for our upcoming Book Fair. Cash or check will be accepted.

We will have multiple areas for grandparents to picnic with their grandchildren. Feel free to bring “picnic supplies” such as blankets, chairs, basket/tote, etc. to picnic anywhere on the school grounds. Tables and chairs will be set up.

Lunch order forms and permission forms went home today in Wednesday packets.

Our word of the week is EXCELLENCE.

Bible Verse:

“Let us not grow tired of doing good, for in due time we shall reap our harvest, if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9
